Make a paste by crushing some ginger and adding salt and water to it. Rub this mixture on the gums gently and then rinse your mouth after 15 minutes. Ginger has excellent anti inflammatory properties and hence reduces the inflammation in the gums.

This in turn reduces the pain. At the same time, salt acts on the infection and kills the bacteria causing it. This way this remedy works on two levels to treat gum pain.
