5 Super Foods Every Woman Needs

As a woman you are blessed with an array of jobs to perform. From taking care of the family to your job and lastly yourself your day is filed with tasks and chores. Amidst all these you must remember that the best way for you to perform them is to take care of yourself first and the rest will take care of itself. A balanced diet along with regular exercise will keep you fit and healthy.

To maintain a healthy diet and eat your meals on time is a task and most of the times you end up skipping meals in order to complete all your chores. This is extremely dangerous to your health. One of the first foods that I recommend is low fat yogurt. 3 to 5 servings in the week will keep you on your toes and in the pink of health. The bacteria in the yogurt will keep you fit. The calcium content in the each serving adds to your daily requirement and helps to protect your bones and teeth. You can enjoy a bowl of yogurt for breakfast, lunch or as an evening snack but avoid it at dinner time.

The next food that is a must on your plate a few times a week should be fish. The fatty kinds like sardines and mackerels are great to ward off diseases related to the heart, hypertension, strokes, joint pains and depression. The omega 3 fatty acids in the fish help to keep you healthy and prevent diseases related to inflammation and arthritis.

4 to 6 servings of beans weekly are also great for your health. They are a great source of fiber and protein and they help to fight cancers and heart related diseases. They are in fact extremely healthy foods and they have been around for so long that people take them for granted. There is a very low incidence of cardio vascular diseases where the consumption of beans is high. Legumes, beans, lentils and peanuts are all great for your health.

The next on the list are bright colored fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, oranges and watermelon. 4 to 5 servings a week help to protect you against prostate cancer and they are extremely beneficial to woman as well. Research has now proved that these foods work as anti aging foods as they protect the skin against UV damage.

Low fat milk or orange juice must be had daily. The bones absorb the calcium from these liquids and the Vitamin D content in them protect against osteoporosis.
