Home Remedies For Diaper Rashes
Change Often For Diaper Rash
If you have to make the baby wear a diaper, make sure that she does not stay wet or soiled. The change of nappy should be done as soon as possible. This is the only good way to make the rashes vanish. You need to understand the reason behind these rashes.
In all likelihood the rashes appeared because of the humid environs created by the wet and soiled diaper. Unless we take it very seriously, the rashes may aggravate. This is likely to make the situation go out of your hands, while you see the baby suffer no ends.
The urine becomes highly alkaline as the time passes. This is as strong as the acid is and burns the skin the way acid can. It is in our best interest to save the bottoms of our child from this ordeal by just being careful to counter the effect of alkali by using some acid which in this case is vinegar.
You may rinse the nappies in a dilute solution of vinegar after finishing the washing. You can also do the final wipe of baby’s bottoms with a dilute solution of alkali.
Sitz bath can do a good job to treat the raw bottom of the baby. It is easy to make use of this effective home remedy. Take a small tub of water and put 2 tbsp of baking soda in it.
Mix it very well and make the baby sit in this for 10 minutes. Repeat this thrice a day. This will alleviate symptoms of diaper rash.
If you can get some oatmeal, use them for your baby’s bath. Oatmeal is a well known remedy for various skin conditions. We are not talking of the oats that you get for breakfast, check with your health store for the oatmeal.
Put a handful of these in a cloth and make a tight bundle. Put this in the tub, after a while the white healing liquid can be squeezed out and your tub of oatmeal water is ready. Make your baby sit in this three to four times a day, each time for 10 minutes.
Increase The Airflow
Choose the diaper made of the right type of cloth which can have a proper flow of air. You can even think of buying the diapers one size bigger than required. Once the rashes go away, you can switch back to right sized one. The idea is that the affected skin gets time to heal without anything rubbing against it.
No Diaper Approach
Let the baby go without any diaper at all. More so when she is sleeping and at other times whenever it is possible let her be without the diaper.
The baby can be made to lie on a rubber sheet which is covered with a folded sheet. This will save you from the mess that your little one can make as the rashes heal.
