Summer is an ideal time to exercise to get back in shape. Exercise helps us remain young and summer is the best time to get connected with your body and exercise. Also, many students who have a long vacation could start exercising to build up energy and good health for the tough year ahead.
However doing a heavy workout could cause problems like dehydration, profuse sweating, exhaustion, and even a cardiac arrest. Here are a few tips to be followed to avoid all the above mentioned problems.
1) The first tip and foundation to starting off on some good exercises is to fix up an appointment with your family doctor and discuss with him regarding the types of exercise you can do and cannot, before embarking on any exercise regimen this summer.
2) The second tip is to do your exercises indoors in summer especially if the outdoors are hot and humid. It is best to do it in an air-conditioned or cool room. This is because extreme temperatures make breathing difficult causing chest pain and could also interfere with the circulation of the body.
3) The third tip especially in summer is to avoid being dehydrated, by drinking a lot of fluids. It is not advisable to wait till you feel thirsty or lightheaded but drink water every 20 to 25 minutes. Having electrolytes or a pinch of salt along with water or fruit juice is very important for people over the age of 70.
4) The fourth tip is to never have a sauna bath or an extremely hot or cold shower after your exercise regimen in summer. It is advisable to maintain an even body temperature. it would be best to wait a while after exercising to cool down before eating anything or taking a bath. You would then be able to avoid increased workload upon the heart.
5) The fifth tip is to get up with the morning lark and go outdoor to do your exercises and take advantage of the cool morning times. You would not only feel energized but be able to exercise well and feel energetic and healthy. If you feel like having a real lazy morning this summer because of vacation times, outdoor exercises can be done even late in the evenings.
6) The sixth tip is whether you exercise outdoor or indoors, make it a point to apply a sunscreen all over your body. During summer, many of us stand a chance of getting a sunburn, which reduces the ability of our body to cool off.
7) Start your exercise regimen slowly and gradually. Be cool and calm and take plenty of time to relax in-between. It would be a good idea to spread out your exercises into 2 to 3 times a day. Make it a point to have plenty of fluids especially cool and fresh water as often as you feel like having them. This is the seventh tip to be successful in your exercise regimen this summer.
The eighth tip is to turn exercise times to fun times this summer. Exercise with your favorite music. Smile and breath deeply and do your exercises with a clear mind. Probably your spouse, kids and friends could also enroll with you to do that rock and role and twist all around.
