
Diabetics can lead a very healthy life if they take care of doing a reasonable amount of exercise besides avoiding foods that harm them and taking of foods that are good for them. So it would be good to be well informed all about the foods they can eat and what they should avoid.
Diabetics should only take those carbohydrates that are not easily absorbed and that do not raise their sugar level drastically. If one avoids eating of sweet dry fruits like dates, dried prunes and figs it would definitely benefit them. Besides, it is best to avoid fruit juices and substitute it by taking two helpings of a fresh admissible fruit.
It is best to eat fresh, steamed, microwave vegetables like spinach, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, tomatoes and lettuce with just a little oil. Sprinkling cinnamon powder helps to lower blood sugar. Eating a lot of vegetables helps to reduce intake of simple carbohydrates. Low fat yogurt is ideal to diabetics.
Eating pulses with the husk helps to provide good amount of fiber in one’s food. Fiber is good for diabetics as it slow to digest and helps balance sugar levels.It is best to state here that a diabetic need not feel discouraged by all the diet restrictions; they could go for that refreshing cinnamon tea prepared by dipping cinnamon in hot water and experience its curative properties.
