September 16, 2009
We all need to exercise and eat good food to build up strength and muscles. Exercise can help us only when we otherwise take good care to take a good diet containing foods that can supplement our efforts. Here are some foods that have helped many of my friends and me.
Yes, you are perfectly right. Spinach is a good food that helps to provide fuel for the muscles of our body. It not only helps you to feel lean and good but also helps to increase protein absorption in the body and helps to repair muscle tissue faster. Green leafy vegetables also have a good quantity of minerals and vitamins also that helps one to gain strength. However besides spinach and green vegetables there are other foods too that are good for building strength and muscles.
Fruits are generally very good food for muscle recovery. However one can hardly overlook fruits like pineapple and papaya that are the store house of bromeliad, papain and other enzymes that help break up the proteins making it easy to digest. These fruits help one to easily gain strength after a workout. Pineapple and papaya also have anti-inflammatory property that helps in speeding up muscle recovery after a workout.
When one weight trains one needs about 400 calories with a good amount of protein and carbohydrates to build and repair those muscles. This need to build and repair muscles can be well met by taking pasta with meat sauce or having a feast on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Yes, salmon is a good food that helps to build up endurance and cardiovascular fitness. Those who did vigorous and intense exercise like cycling and running need fish oil to be taken for about two months to help them consume lesser oxygen and have lower heart rates than before. One may substitute fish oil or fish oil capsules by taking fish rich in fatty acids about 5 times a week.
Pork tenderloin and other lean meats help to build not only strength but also help one to have a lean waist. Lean meats have protein and are low in calories. It was found that those who wish to lose weight should consume at least substantial protein to have a lean proportionate waist and hip.
In addition it is vital for one to have fluids before and after a workout to feel well hydrated. Sports drinks and water are ideal for hydration. However it would be better to consume chocolate milk or a whole grain cereal with after a work out. Researchers say it is perfectly right as these two foods provide a good balance of carbohydrates, proteins and fats that help to build up strength and effect muscle recovery.
Drinking cold water before and during exercises like cycling and running in hot humid weather is a good fuel that helps to build and improve ones endurance. Cold water is definitely better than hot or lukewarm liquids. Drinking cold water helps to reduce the body temperature and makes one feel strong. Hence it would require a longer time for one to be really heated up and tired.
Drinking three to four cups of green tea helps to reduce cell damage during exercise and helps to bring about muscle recovery also. So those who do vigorous workouts should make it a rule to consume this useful fuel to recover fast after a workout and feel one has strength.
To end I am sure anyone who takes these foods can be assured of strength and good muscles.
