Aromatherapy for Healthy Life
Aromatherapy is the treatment of body and mind with medicinal properties and fragrances of essential oils. Aromatherapy does not use artificial perfumes. It only uses the plant derived essential oils. This feature of aromatherapy makes it a natural and safe treatment. Unlike other traditional medicines, it does not provide comfort to body only but mind becomes calm too at the same time.
It is very important to increase the public awareness towards this therapy. It is a wonderful therapy and can be practiced by anyone. But it is always good to know the precautions and standards for its proper use to prevent any ill-happening. The main modes of using essential oils are inhalation and external use on skin. People with asthma and skin allergies should take proper care while using this therapy.
Some essential oils can make skin more sensitive to allergies and in same way can block the nose. This will create more problems for the patients which should be avoided at all cost. It is always better to use the pure form of essential oils. Adulterated oils should be avoided. Use dilute form of oils instead of their concentrated form to prevent any complications.
Oral consumption of the oil should be avoided. It can prove hazardous to the internal body organs. The alcohol which is used as a base of these oils is toxic and not of consumption quality. These oils should be kept in dark to avoid any adverse reaction with the sunlight. They should also be kept away from the children. A person who is suffering from lack of concentration can enhance concentration through this therapy. Many essential oils have properties that can be useful for problems like burns, bruises, asthma, bronchitis, flu, muscular aches and pains.
Digestion can be improved by some essential oils. Some oils like camphor and bitter almond are dangerous to keep at home. The bitter almond oil contains formaldehyde which is very hazardous for skin and internal organs, if swallowed accidentally. Oils like chamomile have been found to induce drowsiness. Some oils like rosemary and sage can be risky for pregnant ladies. A saying is, “precaution is better than cure”. So, take some precautions and enjoy life with aromatherapy.
