Aromatherapy for Sinus

Aromatherapy is an alternative health treatment that uses essential oils to stimulate the senses in order to treat symptoms of illness or imbalances. Peppermint oil: Other than eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil is also well-known as fragrant oil for steaming. Peppermint essential oil is very good anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiviral and antiseptic oil that is very strong and blends well with other oils. Peppermint oil is uplifting and reviving as smells great when used for steam inhalation.

Rosemary: Rosemary is herbaceous oil that is very scented for steaming. This oil disinfects the respiratory system and sinus passages and is also helpful in treating sinus conditions. Rosemary is an analgesic, stimulant, antiseptic, antimicrobial oil that has an outstanding ability to remove excess mucus conditions as well as clearing blocked sinus conditions, relieving stuffy nose and sinus congestion.

Steaming for 15 minutes would be effective and more than 15 minutes will not be of much help. Again too many drops of essential oils would not be much help. Just 4-5 drops of essential oil is enough for steam inhalation.

Individuals suffering from congested heart failure and pregnant ladies should avoid steaming. Essential oils should not be taken internally or directly onto the skin.
