A relaxing holiday or a business trip can often mean a long flight. This can be fun if you are traveling with family and friends; however it can also cause it’s fair share of jet lag, headaches and migraines and if you are in the tropics and traveling by road then a sun tan is inevitable.

There are several therapies that you can use to cure these issues, and one of them includes Aromatherapy.

For those that are traveling by flight, you must keep in mind that even a 2 hours flight can cause jet lag. Sitting in the same position for hours and not moving or stretching can also cause havoc on your muscles. For this reason you must bathe in an aromatic bath before you leave for your flight. Add 1 drop of lavender and lemongrass oils to your bath water and soak in it for about 15 minutes. The oils will help to soothe your muscles and calm your nerves. They will also help your immune system to function properly. You must also mix the 2 oils in base oil and keep it with you in a tiny vial. Massage it onto your hands and temples while on the flight; this will help you to get rejuvenated.

After you reach your destination; you can take a relaxing bath once more. This time use 1 drop of chamomile oil and 1 drop of lemon grass oil in your bath water and after your bath; massage the oils on your palms, soles of your feet and your temples. Doing this will take care of any jet lag you experience.

The constant bursts of air in the aircraft or the heat of the sun when traveling by road can often lead to headaches and migraine like pains. Aromatherapy can come to your rescue once more. Lavender oil is known to be able to relieve stress and massaging the oils directly onto your temples in clockwise directions will help to get instant relief. You must also massage the area between the skull and the base of the neck. Toxins tend to accumulate there and cause headaches. Drink plenty of water in order to flush out the toxins and then massage the area with peppermint oil.

To get rid of a sun tan that you may get during your trip use a mixture of chamomile oil with tea tree oil mixed with a base oil and massage it onto your skin. It will help to soothe any itching or burning sensation you may be experiencing.
