
A weak shoulder can be rehabilitated by shoulder rehabilitation exercises. These exercises make the shoulder strong. Muscle fitness means having muscles that are more powerful and can lift heavier objects and work more before getting exhausted. There are a good number of shoulder rehab exercises, which benefit the shoulder muscles as well as the body in a good number of ways:Supine press: This is an easy and simple exercise that can be done at home comfortably and in small steps. One has to lie on the back grasping a bar with both hands. Then the bar needs to be pushed straight up towards the ceiling. While pushing this bar, one needs to be careful that at the end of every push, he would need to lift the shoulder off the bed or floor. This should be done twenty times at a stretch.
When this could be done twenty times easily, then one must separate the hands by an inch when the bar is pushed towards the ceiling. This would push a slightly more load on the muscles of the weaker shoulder. One can practice this exercise, firstly, with nothing in the hand, and then slowly increase it by taking an empty container, then a water-filled container and so on. The person must be sure of two things. Before advancing to the next step, he must be sure that he can lift the shoulder above the bed or floor with every single push, and he is being able to complete twenty times easily before moving to the next step.
Rotation of cuff muscles: This exercise is done in order to have a strong shoulder. The strong rotator cuff muscles are strengthened through this exercise thereby preventing any kind of injury and have a fit and strong shoulder. The internal rotation shoulder exercise helps in the strengthening of Subscapularis muscles while the external rotation shoulder exercise helps in strengthening the Infraspinatus and Teres Minor Muscles.
Assisted Flexion: This exercise helps in the shoulder range of movements going. One has to lie flat on the floor and clasp the hands together. Then the arms need to be slowly lifted upwards, stretching them out away from the person as he brings them gradually above the head. This exercise can also be done by sitting up or standing.
As shoulders have a wide range of movements in its small area, there are lot musculature supports, which are very complex. There are other shoulder exercises like pendular exercises, active flexion, medial rotation, lateral rotation, etc. Benefits to exercise extend from the heart to lungs, muscles to bones and so on.
