During cold and flu season all of us are surrounded by germs. You will have people sneezing around you almost everywhere; your colleagues in school, collage and at your work place, those that you meet on your way to work and even the malls are full of sneezing shoppers. During this season your best defense against cold and flu is to boost your immunity. Increasing your immunity levels is one way of preventing cold and flu attacks. This can be done in a few easy steps.

Start with the amount of sleep you get every night. It is imperative that you get quality sleep for 6 to 7 hours every night. When you sleep your body is able to renew itself and recover from any danger that it is in. Sleeping for a few hours will boost your immunity drastically.

During flu season you must pay keen attention to your hygiene. Wash your hands at regular intervals; especially after you touch door knobs, public computers and grocery carts. Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer handy; this is the safest way to fight germs and bacteria when you are not able to wash your hands with soap and water.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and face before you wash your hands; this will prevent germs from getting into your system.

Practice yoga to boost your immunity. Yoga increases ones resistance to germs and it also helps to fight common ailments.

Add rock salt to your bath water and soak in this water for a few minutes. The natural energy of the salt will boost your immunity and increases your resistance to common germs and bacteria.

Lastly, a well balanced diet will help you to boost your immunity. Wash all fruits and vegetables well before you eat them; this will eliminate the risk of bacteria entering your system. Eat foods that are nutritious and those that are low in fats. Avoid eating high portions of animal fats. If your diet does not offer you all the minerals and vitamins that your body needs then you must take multi vitamin supplements.
