Canker Sores: Causes and Treatments

Canker sores can be defined as shallow but painful sores in mouth. One might get them on the inside of the lips, inside of the cheeks, the base of gums or under the tongue. Canker sores can be occurred to anyone but generally women and people in their teens. The causes of canker sores are dental braces, food allergies, stress, spicy or oily food etc.

One of the best remedy for canker sores is aloe juice as a mouth freshener and then rinse several times a day. Antacid like Mylanta and milk of magnesia can be used as a mouthwash. This will help in relieving the pain in the mouth. Baking soda is also very useful remedy for canker sores as it can be applied directly on the affected area in the mouth.

Another proven remedy for sores is DMSO( dimethyl sulfoxide). Also application of raw onion to the sores is very useful remedy. Canker sores can be treated by sucking on chewing several papaya tablets two to three times a day. The patient suffering from sores can cure it by having two teaspoon of fresh plum juice and then use it as mouth freshener and then rinsing for 10 mins.
