Caring for Oily Skin

Oily skin has its pros and cons. On the negative side oily skin looks dull and unhealthy if you do not care for it; however it is also less prone to wrinkles and signs of aging. In order to prevent oily skin from looking dull and lifeless you need to follow a strict skin care regime. Internal as well as external cleansing will result in the skin looking healthy and radiant.If you have oily skin then your pores will secrete oils in huge amounts at regular intervals. In order to control the secretion of oil you must wash your face regularly. This will help you to control oil from clogging your pores and prevent the formation of blackheads and whiteheads. Avoid washing your face with warm or hot water as it will increase the secretion of oil on the face. Luke warm water or cold water is best for those with oily skin. Avoid using harsh soaps that will dry your skin; instead use a light moisturizing face wash with exfoliating crystals in it.

Exfoliating your skin is very important if you have very oily skin. The process of exfoliation will help to eliminate the dead skin from your face. It will also unclog your pores and get rid of the dirt and oils that may lead to the formation of blackheads and whiteheads. Do not exert too much pressure on your skin when you are exfoliating it as it may damage your skin.

Maintain a well balanced diet if you have oily skin. A diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables and low in fats and junk food will promote healthy skin. Drink plenty of water in order to eliminate toxins from the body.

Caffeine will lead to acne breakouts and hence you must avoid consuming caffeine in all forms. Avoid drinking tea and coffee and opt for herbal teas that are caffeine free. Beverages that are high in sugar content and fizzy drinks must be avoided. Chocolates are another source of caffeine and hence must be avoided.

Steam your face every week to clean the pores and eliminate all the dirt and oils that are trapped in the pores.

Moisturize your face with a rich cream or lotion every night. Use sunscreen during the day on all exposed parts of the body to prevent sun damage.
