Caring for Your Hands and Feet with Home Treatments
January 19, 2010
Men and women both face issues with their hands and feet; this is especially true during the colder months of the year. While all of us are busy focusing on how to improve our immune systems we pay little attention to our skin. This leads to dry skin and signs of aging.
Dry skin is more prone to wrinkles and not taking care of your skin paves the way for premature aging. In order to prevent this one must care for their hands and feet. Caring for your skin is not difficult or time consuming. Your skin care regime needs to be incorporated into your daily schedule so that it becomes a part of your routine.
The key to maintaining your skin is to moisturize it well. Use a moisturizing cream or lotion on your hands and feet immediately after a bath. You must also apply cream on your hands every time you wash them. Merely washing your hands is not sufficient to keep your cuticles healthy.
When you moisturize your hands you need to spend a few seconds massaging your cuticles so that they remain soft and well conditioned. Massaging your hands and feet for 3 to 4 minutes daily will have long term benefits to your skin.
You must use a cuticle oil and cuticle cream on your hands and feet during winter. The cream nourishes for your cuticles while the oil keeps it healthy and soft. These products also help to repair damaged cuticles. If you do not have either of these products then you could use olive oil on your hands and feet.
If you notice dry cuticles then you must use a cuticle remover to get rid of it. Never try and cut it. You must also push back your cuticles regularly. This helps to prevent hangnails.
As you focus on your skin care routine you must also take some time out and pay attention to your nails. Filling your nails once a week helps to prevent nail breakage and also prevents damage to the nails. If you are using dark shades of nail polish then you must use a base coat as it may cause discoloration on the surface of the nail.
You must also use a pumice stone on your feet once a week in order to get rid of dead skin cells. Buffing your feet regularly helps to keep your feet soft; it also prevents your heels from cracking.
