Causes and Remedies of Stress

April 27, 2009

The term stress refers to any condition where your body and mind are not at ease. In this situation, you are prone to heart diseases, high cholesterol, diabetes, ulcers especially in the mouth and headaches.

When you are stressed out, the pupils in your eyes expand, your digestive track begins to slow down, your muscles become tense, blood pressure goes up as a result you breathe faster leading to a possible cardiac arrest. If the stressor is eliminated, the effects of the stress can be reverse automatically. When a person is stressed out he is quick to anger, has inadequate sleep, tends to get in to a cause and effect mode and in certain cases can take up to alcohol.

There are several reasons why an individual may feel stressed out. While some of them are internal most of them are external environmental factors.

Several home and herbal remedies will help to cure a person suffering from stress:

Holy basil is known to work as an anti stress agent. Herbal remedies require a person suffering from stress to eat 12 leaves twice a day daily when experiencing stress.

Sage is another such herb that helps to prevent and reduce stress. Add sage to your daily cooking to benefit from this herb. You can add it to soups and salads and even your egg preparations. The best way to consume this herb and reap all its benefits is to brew it with your daily cup of tea. Add a spoon of honey to the tea and boil it well. If you are using fresh sage then chop it into fine pieces else use it in the powdered form.

Eating a few cashew nuts, green leafy vegetables, sprouts and bananas will help to boost your morale and reduce stress. Date seeds and eggs are known to be silent helpers in removal of stress.
