
A prolonged occurrence of loose motions is termed as Diarrhea. Dryness is caused because of this and it may eventually lead to death. One can suffer from acute Diarrhea or chronic Diarrhea. Commonly, it is known as loose motions. It is very common in children.
Every day, more than ten litres of liquid is processed by the small intestine. This water primarily comes from the diet. The other source of this water is the discharge of the stomach, liver, pancreas, and intestines. Diarrhea can either involve excessive absorption or excessive egesting of water. This excessive water is sent to the colon that has a limited water holding capacity.
One of the primary causes of the diarrhea are overeating or taking an unbalanced diet. Other causes include decay of food in the intestinal tract, fermentation by incomplete digestion of carbohydrate, nervous irritability, excessive use of antibiotic drugs and the main causes of diarrhea are overeating or eating of wrong foods, decay of food in the intestinal tract, fermentation caused by unfinished carbohydrate digestion, nervous irritability, use of antibiotic drugs, and over dosage of laxatives.
Parasites, germs, virus, bacteria, or poisons that enter through food water, air, or food can also cause diarrhea. Diarrhea is sometimes caused by allergies to even ordinary foods such as eggs, sea foods, bread, maize, etc. Other natural diseases may also lead to diarrhea.
Home remedy that is most widely used for the treatment of diarrhea is buttermilk. The liquid that is left after fat is removed from the curd is known as the buttermilk. It is prepared by vigorously shaking the curd. Buttermilk is extremely helpful in overcoming the destructive intestinal flora. Buttermilk is acidic. Thus, it helps in fighting against the germs and bacteria. Salt may be added to buttermilk in order to improve its taste. It can be taken three to four times a day. It is the best home remedy for treating diarrhea.
Another useful home remedy for diarrhea is carrot soup. It provides water for avoiding dehydration. It provides the body with sodium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sulphur, and magnesium. It also contains pectin that is helpful for curing diarrhea. The carrot soup covers the surface of the intestine to relieve irritation. The soup can be easily prepared by cooking half kilogram of carrots in 150 mL of water. For taste, salt may be added to the soup. The water should me made thinner by adding about a litre of boiling water to this soup. This soup shall be given to the patient in small amounts in half hour intervals.
