Causes and Treatment of Ear Infection

Ear is one of the most important organs of our body. It helps us hear the sound produced in our surroundings. However due to complex design, it is prone to various infections. Therefore it is very important to know about the infections and diseases related to ears and the way these problems can be avoided.

The ear in our body is made of three main parts, i.e., outer ear, middle ear, and the inner ear. All these parts of ear are at equal risk of getting an infection. When one part of the eye gets infected it can infect the other two parts also. The infection in the outer ear is mainly due to flu, cold etc. Sometimes infection of upper respiratory system also causes infection of the outer ear.

When ear gets infected, it causes an inflammation to the area from outer part to the eardrum. Apart from inflammation, the other symptoms of the infection may include sever pain, mild fever, itching etc. The air pressure in side the eardrum is maintained by auditory tubes. These tunes are spread from ear to the back of nasal cavity.

Therefore infection to this part becomes more complicated. Small bones inside the ear also get infected due to infection of inner ear. Pus starts draining from the ear and due to pain, the patient experiences very difficulty in performing day to day activity. Lack of concentration and restlessness can also be observed as the symptoms of ear infection. Ear infection is very common among the children and infants. Unhealthy living increases the chances of ear infection.

Most of the people go for over the counter medications to get a quick relief from the pain due to ear infection, however a long term consumption of these medications leads to other health complications. Hence it is always advisable to go for home based remedies available for the treatment of ear infection. Consumption of food containing vitamin C and zinc is very helpful in avoiding ear infection.

The antibiotic properties of colloidal silver are very helpful in curing the ear infection. Washing ear with it gives a quick relief from the infection of ear. Putting few drops of lobelia oil mixed with garlic oil is very effective in case of ear infection. In case of sever pain, aconite is very helpful. If the symptoms are persistent, consult a doctor for diagnosis.
