Scabies is a skin disease where bacteria infect the layers of your skin and hatch eggs in them. This leads to itching sensation in the skin; thereafter it leads to open wounds and bleeding if not care for and treated on time. In order to get rid of this condition you need to keep your skin clean and maintain proper hygiene.

This can be done by washing your skin with warm water and mild anti septic soaps. Cleaning the bacteria on the surface of the skin is half of the task; once that is done you can take care of the bacteria that lay under your skin.

In order to get rid of the bacteria and prevent them from infecting your skin you need to use calamine lotion on your skin at night. Pay attention to the skin in between your fingers and toes and under your nails. You must also apply the lotion to the groin area as the bacteria tend to infect this area. You may also use a sulfur based cream on the infected area; however pregnant and nursing women who are infected must avoid this treatment.

Remember that when you are infected the symptoms do not show immediately. It normally takes 3 to 4 weeks for the symptoms like itching and broken skin to surface. In order to prevent the spread of the infection you must maintain your hygiene levels. Also make sure that your skin is dry as moist skin invites the bacteria to surface and spread.

Rub Aloe Vera gel on the infected parts of the skin. The gel hydrates the skin and restores the moisture while reducing the spread of the bacteria from the first application. It also reduces the itching sensation in the skin and reduces inflammation.

If the skin is broken and is bleeding then you must ensure that you keep the skin clean and cover it in order to prevent spread of infection. Wash all clothes immediately in order to prevent the spread of the infection via the blood.
