COPD Remedies Can Be Effective With Natural Cures

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a condition of the lungs, which causes different lung disorders due to blockage or damage in the air passages leading to the lungs. This may also be a reason of severe and everlasting damage to the respiratory structure.

Two most widely seen disorders of this condition are Emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Mostly, they occur separately (only one that is), but many cases have been reported of both of them occurring together. What happens in Emphysema is that, the airways, in the respiratory system, get narrow; as a result, it gets very difficult to breathe.

In chronic bronchitis, there’s a continuous line of coughing, with the production of mucous. This situation may go on for two consecutive years, three months in each. Due to regular coughing, the airways get inflammation, and in long time, scars and damage the lung tissue. This condition worsens over time.

Try And Be Calm

It often happens that, COPD sufferers, even when they are not experiencing any respiratory problem, they fear that the problems would start any moment and panic; that’s a mistake. Due to this, the individual initiates breathlessness as the heart rate has increased. One may control this with simple meditation and calming exercises, such as tai chi, yoga and sometimes massage.

Control Your Breathing

Try the yoga and tai chi techniques to control your breathing rate. Sometimes, knowing how to breathe ‘evenly’ can make a difference and give you an upper hand against COPD. If you are not experiencing any change after doing yoga and other meditation stuff, consult a specialist.

Clean Air-Passages

In COPD, especially in chronic bronchitis, the airways and the lungs are often blocked by mucous; therefore, one has to make sure that the passageways are clear. You can take the help of a humidifier, and drink lots of water to keep your passageways clean and clear.

Smoking Is A No-Go

Smoking has several bad effects on the body; especially, the respiratory system. Sometimes, it’s seen that, smoking is the main cause of COPD, in some individuals. Just plain, keep away from smoking; active or passive.

Exercises

Regular exercises will not only puff up your muscles, but also help in building up a strong respiratory system in you. Include exercises, which have long durations and have direct or indirect effect on the respiratory system. Do not forget to include Cardio exercises in your routine; like walking, jogging, etc.

Monoterpenes  

This is a mixture of different kinds of herbs, used mainly in Aromatherapy. This process is also used widely in the treatment of Bronchitis. The ingredients of the Monoterpenes oil are: oil extracts of citrus and pine, and eucalyptus. This mixture oil especially helps in chronic bronchitis.

However, the people, who are suffering from bronchitis, should stay away from this treatment; as this mixture can cause side effects. So before using this process to aid in your disease, consult with an aroma therapist (preferably one who has seen and treated patients of COPD before.) Also, the use of Homeopathy in parallel to Herbal therapy, should be strictly avoided, as then, the homeopathy will have no effect.

Fennel

This is an herb, which is widely used in Ayurveda, to treat cough (of Chronic Bronchitis, mainly). Fennel is most effective when prepared as a liquid counterpart, i.e. tea or syrup. It is advised, though, that you get acquainted regarding the dos and don’ts, relating to this process, from an Ayurveda practitioner.

Japanese Herb

A Japanese herb, used widely in the treatment of Respiratory diseases, can be used for the cure for COPD. The herb, named Saiboku-tu, is often made into an herbal tonic, with the help of other herbs (licorice root, ginseng, and some other roots) to limit the coughing. This herbal mixture is available on the internet, and some medical outlets (with proper search), but it must only be taken with a proper consultation from your healthcare provider.

Cordyceps

This herb/fungus is widely in use in China. This helps in the protection of the respiratory system and also strengthens the walls of the veins and capillaries. It is also known to have a good effect on the heart rate (it keeps it stable and blood pressure too.) It is suggested to use this herb to a max of, 3gms a day.

Some Other Herbal Shots

Some herbal treatments for the cure of COPD may be the use of these herbs. Olive Leaf helps to remove the symptoms of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. It aids in the treatment of the infection, related to COPD, and the inflammation. Serrapeptase is one herb, which said to have miraculous effect on this particular condition (COPD). It is also said to have no side effects. Cayenne helps in the blood circulation and in the improvement of breathing.

A condition as serious as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease should not be taken lightly. Home treatment is sometimes effective but is not advised. If natural/ home remedies are to be applied, consult a doctor beforehand, always. Instead of going into homemade remedies what you may do is, alter your diet a little bit.

Research suggests that, a low concentration of some vitamins and minerals like, A, C and E, Magnesium, zinc, selenium, and potassium, may also be a reason for catching COPD or any other lung condition. So make sure to have a good amount of green vegetables and fresh fruits, whole grains and nuts.

To help keeping your body fit and also do your part in restricting the COPD from occurring, eat often during the day. Don’t settle for a large amount of food, go for a smaller amount of diet instead and have at least 6 meals a day. Calculate the calorie intake accordingly. If possible also do try and include these few things in the diet: Brome lain, Omega 3, Magnesium, etc.
