We have all been told about the multiple benefits of eating a healthy diet. Well, its now time to put it to practice. A diet that will prevent heart diseases, diabetes and cancer seems almost too good to be true; but it is a reality. You may already be doing certain things right; just a few more changes will help you to be on your way to a healthier and happier life. At the most basic level; maintaining a healthy diet will keep you in great health and will keep away almost all diseases. Remember, almost all diseases are preventable and it you maintain a diet that keeps your immune system strong then you stand to benefit from it.
Start the day with a healthy breakfast. No matter how late you are; you must eat a healthy breakfast. This helps to start your day with loads of energy. Breakfast must include proteins, fiber, carbohydrates and vitamins. A glass of Orange juice along with a fruit, a piece of toast and an egg will be a great breakfast that will keep your energy levels high during the first half of the day. Once a week make sure that you have Oatmeal porridge, the fiber in the oats will keep you satiated while also ensuring that you do not suffer from any digestive disorders. Keep sugar low at breakfast. If you must have a cup of tea or coffee then drink a glass of warm water with honey immediately after to get rid of the caffeine from your system.
Snack at 3 hours intervals. Fast foods are not considered snacks; they are toxic to your system as they load you with unhealthy fats that clog your arteries and give rise to heart related disorders. You must also avoid packaged snacks like crisps and sodas. A fruit juice or a fruit; some healthy nuts and dried fruits are a great snack. You may snack on a sandwich or bagel if you are extremely famished.
Lunch must always be a brown paper lunch; something that you get from home. Avoid lunching on cafeteria food or take out. They are the kinds of food that are low on nutrition yet very appetizing. They load you up with fats that lead to complications. Leftovers from the previous night’s dinner are always a great lunch option.
Having a light snack at tea time is helpful as it prevents binging during dinner. Always keep your dinners light. It’s a great way of preventing any digestive issues at night. Avoid spicy foods at night; the kinds that lead to heartburns and acid refluxes. You must maintain your daily calorie count and avoid over eating too many calories.
