Effective Tips to Control Stress

The most common modern life complaint is stress. A demanding job, the pressure of being a good parent, balancing work and personal life, the pressure of performing well in school are just a few of the reasons that cause stress.

To be able to control stress, it’s important to first identify the reasons in your life that cause it. Once you are aware of the reasons, slowly work towards finding solutions to work around them.

If you have a job that takes up most of your time, and you can’t focus on your family, you could end up feeling guilty. Prioritize what is more important, and focus on that. Mostly, now you are thinking, well, both are equally important.

That is a challenge most of us are faced with today. You need to work towards saying no to some tasks at work. Taking up more than what you can handle in an effort to prove yourself is a common mistake that most people make at work.

Learn the art of delegating work. This helps increase productivity. It can also help you at home.

Talk to your spouse and ask him/her to pitch in. If your kids are old enough, speak to them and let them know you need their help and co-operation.

The common mistake most women make, is trying to be there for everyone all of the times. Be realistic, it is not possible. Don’t make promises that you can’t keep. This only increases the frustrations of the opposite person and makes you feel guilty.

Plan your week ahead on the weekends. Try to maintain a diary or a to-do list that will help you stay organized better.

Get some physical activity. A short walk in the evening can actually help you relax. Walk home from work if possible (wear comfortable shoes). Listen to music when you walk.

Take some time off just for yourself during the day. Even if it is 20 mins that you can manage, it will help you unwind.

Look for yoga exercises that help reduce stress, Do these for 15 mins in the morning before you start your day. Yoga has amazing health benefits.
