The sunlight makes your day, in the literal sense. Every living organism on our planet needs the sun to survive, directly or indirectly. Plants use the energy of the sun in photosynthesis, and turn air into sugars which are important in their growth. Animals consume these plants for their survival and break the sugars they digest. This gives them the energy to survive. Natural gases like coal and petroleum are the remnants of these ancient plants and animals that are formed using the energy from the sun. Humans need all these for basic survival.
We need the energy of the sun as it is our primary source of Vitamin D. The body produces Vitamin D that it gains from the sun. Lack of exposure to the sun needs to be complimented with dietary supplements to ensure the Vitamin D requirements are met. Lack of Vitamin D can give rise to bone disorders like rickets and in later stages osteoporosis, high blood pressure, tuberculosis, cancer, chronic pain and diabetes. On the other hand excessive exposure causes premature ageing, burning, and cancer of the skin, wrinkles and freckles.
