If you have been diagnosed with sinus then I am sure that you have already tried a variety of treatments in order to cure the condition. Though anti biotic treatments are popularly used as a remedy for sinus issues a lot of people are adopting natural remedies to cure this illness. This is due to the fact that natural remedies like aromatherapy helps to effectively get rid of sinus congestions, infections and pain. There are several factors that cause sinus attacks. Change in weather conditions, allergies and chemicals are the main factors that contribute to sinus attacks. A sinus attack causes dizziness, headaches, sore throats, toothaches and in some cases it may even cause fever.
How to use essential oils to treat sinus
There are several oils that can be used to treat sinus attacks. Some of the popular oils used are eucalyptus, rosemary, myrtle, oregano, frankincense, peppermint, thyme and spruce. These oils can be used in different ways in order to treat the symptoms of sinus.
One of the best ways to get relief from sinus congestions is to inhale the essential oils. You can either use a steam diffuser or apply the oil to a handkerchief and inhale the oil at regular intervals. In my opinion using a steam diffuser is the most effective remedy for sinus congestions as it helps to eliminate the hardened mucus. If you do not have a steam diffuser then you can boil a pot of hot water and then add a few drops of the essential oil to the pot and then breathe in the fumes.
You can also use essential oils directly on your skin; however you must blend them with a base or carrier oil in order to prevent damage to the skin. You must also remember to never use the oil directly in the nose or nasal passage as the nerves in the nasal passage are very delicate and the oil may damage them. Also during a sinus attack the nerves may be sore or swollen and may rupture if you use the essential oils directly on the skin without diluting it.
Massaging the essential oils on your back, chest and on your forehead at night will help you to rest. It will also prevent congestion when you sleep at night.
