The winter is known to be harsh on your skin. While seasonal changes are normal your skin is not aware of the changes that it is about to go through. You must prep up your skin before and during the cold season to ensure that the cold winds do not wreck havoc on your skin. You need to make changes in your skin care routine along with the changes in the season. While you need to protect your skin against the cold; you must remember that the sun still exists and protection against it is imperative as well. While in summers you protect yourself against sunburn; in winter you need to protect yourself against windburn.

You must start your day with a warm glass of water with a hint of lemon blended with it. This helps to eliminate toxins from your body. This is also the time for you to nourish your skin from inside out. What you can do is maintain a healthy diet. This helps you to maintain the ph balance of your skin. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables along with sizeable amounts of fish helps you to have healthy glowing skin. Do not forget to take your supplements and vitamins. Get adequate sleep during the winter. An hour or two extra will not harm.

Make an effort to drink liquids that hydrate your body during this season. If you are not too excited about drinking water; then you can make a conscious choice to drink fruit juices and milk. Warm milk, hot chocolates and coffee during this season goes a long way.

Do not expose your skin to hot water. This tends to steal the moisture from your skin and it leaves your skin dry and flaky. Hot water will also lead to your skin getting red. Keep bath time short and do not make a hassle out of it.

Keep your lips protected with lip balms that have a good SPF. This will help to keep your skin hydrated as well as it will reduce chapping.

Exfoliate the skin on your face twice a week and your entire body once a week. This will help to get rid of the dead and dry skin. Massage the facial and body scrubs in circular motions to increase the flow of blood and thereby increase blood circulation.
