To understand the details of female reproductive health, age and pregnancy are important factors in the maintenance of overall good health and future fertility planning.
Some of the factors that can retard female reproductive growth are:
Smoking and alcohol: While smoking can interfere in the body’s ability to regulate ovulation, thereby creating the serious problems in reproduction. Excess intake of alcohol can lead to amenorrhea, irregular ovulation and many other reproductive problems.
Drugs: Drug injection and needle sharing may lead to HIV and Hepatitis B&C. Anabolic steroid and medication can also affect sexual health.
Toxins: Exposure to toxin results in a number of reproductive health problems like irregular period, hormonal changes, and higher miscarriage rates in pregnant women.
Sexual History: Practicing safe sex is the best way to prevent reproductive health problems. If sexually transmitted disease (STD) goes untreated for a long period of time, it can pose a fair threat to female reproductive health and future fertility.
Vagina, womb (uterus), fallopian tubes and ovaries constitute the female reproductive system. They are described as follows:
Vaginal Health: Discharges of the vagina are normal. However, vaginal infection (vaginitis) causing vaginal irritation, smell, and burning sensation in urine passing, should be reported to doctor immediately to cure the same.
Uterus: Uterus (womb) is shaped like an upside down pear. It is a muscular organ. Cervix is a small hole in the center, which is the opening to the uterus. Pap smear is a screening test, which is done to look for changes in the cervix opening. At times non-malignant tumors called Fibroids grow in the womb, which should be taken care.
Fallopian Tube: The two tubes that are extended from the womb and that opens near the ovary are called fallopian tubes. The egg (ovum) is carried from the ovary to the womb by these tubes.
Ovaries: Ovaries contain eggs and are almond in shape. Eggs made in ovaries begin a new life cycle when it is fertilized by a sperm from a man.
Endometriosis (womb lining problems), Fibroids, infertility, painful periods, premenstrual tension, and sexually transmitted disease are some of the common diseases in the reproductive system of women. Timely consultation with the doctors can effectively restrict these diseases. Use of condoms is one of the safest ways to keep away from STD.
