Flu: The Problem Of Viral Infection

Due to unfavorable weather conditions various part of our body including ear, throat, nose, eyes etc. are attacked by a viral infection. Clinically this viral infection is termed as influenza while its common name is flu. Depending upon the type of virus the part affected in our body can be different. One kind of virus attacks the eyes whereas the other may attack the ear or the throat.

The tenure for which the infection can last also depends upon the type of viral infection. Fever, vomiting, body ache, tiredness, headache, mild muscles and joint pain are among the various symptoms of the flu. Again the symptoms also vary according to the virus. Sometimes the consequences of a viral attack or that of flu can be fatal, especially in case of young children or infants. Therefore, it is very important to have basic knowledge of viral infection and its treatments.

As far as the treatment of flu through medications is concern, there is no successful treatment of flu by the medications. Fortunately we have various home remedies for flu which have been proved to be very effect in a number of cases. These remedies can be herb based treatment or simple home remedies.

When we take over the counter medications for curing flu, initially these medications are able to reduce the symptoms but they are not able to cure the disease and the symptoms grow again when we stop taking these medication.

Apart from this, there are various side effects associated with these medications and they are very expensive too. Hence it is wise to go for home based remedies in case of flu. There is no such side effect associated with home remedies and they are cost effective also. Some of them are available at almost no cost. Vaccination of flu has been proved to be unsuccessful till the date.

The people with weaker immune system are always at higher risk of getting a viral attack. Hence, it is good to consume fruits and vegetables which make our immune system strong. Balance diet and proper nutrition is also helpful in making the immune system strong. Dehydration is a common symptom of flu, therefore drink plenty of water per day, it will keep your body well hydrated. Increase consumption of vitamin C.

Take fresh fruits and vegetable contain vitamin C. Garlic is very effective in avoiding flu and in reducing its symptoms. A regular consumption of garlic in main food is helpful in avoiding flu. In case the symptoms are persistent you should consult a doctor.
