Food Options that Help to Reduce Cholesterol
The risk of having a high cholesterol diet is a heart attack cased by blocked arteries. When you eat foods that are rich in cholesterol, you are risking blocking the walls of your arteries with fats. When this happens the walls of your arteries become thin and lesser oxygen passes to your heart. There are a few steps that you can take to reduce this risk.
First and foremost you need to reduce the amount of fried foods that you consume. This does not mean that you need to give up any of your favorite foods; you just need to choose to eat the in healthier preparations. If you are a fan of chicken then avoid fried chicken and opt for a grilled version of it. Add it to a salad with low fat salad dressing instead of in a burger with white bread and cheese.
Adding garlic to your diet reduces the risk of an attack. Garlic can be added to your pasta sauce or in a paste form to your rice preparation. When you prepare soups and vegetables add a few cloves of garlic to it. Not only will it enhance the taste of the food but you also gain from its curative powers.
Avoid chicken and red meats as far as possible and opt for more vegetarian meals. You gain more fat from these meats and hence vegetable preparations are a healthier option. Eat sweet potatoes for a healthy meal that fills up your stomach as well as helps your digestive track as well.
Eat fruits that are rich in fiber as they help to eliminate all fats from your system. You can choose from melons and mangoes.
When making your sandwich use low fat butter or margarine instead of regular butter. Avoid mayonnaise in your salads and sandwiches as it has a high fat content. Choose vinegar and olive oil based salad dressings as a healthier option
