Foods that Help to Reduce Stress

Ever feel like the days are getting longer and more stressful. You have started dreading waking up and getting out of bed. Your morning cup of coffee is not pleasurable any more; then you need a few ‘pick me ups’ that will help to add some spice to your tea cup.

Chocolate is normally a no- no for those on a diet or those who tend to binge on it as it can cause skin breakouts like acne and zits. However, if you are feeling particularly depressed then a few bits of chocolate will help you. Eating an ounce of dark chocolate helps to heal you of common ailments as well as takes care to keep coronary disorders at bay.

Use aromatherapy oils and candles in your room to lift your mood. Fragrances like lavender, ylang ylang and chamomile are known for relieving stress and relaxing muscle tension. Lavender helps to relieve headaches. Add a few rose petals to your ice cream or juice and chomp on them as they also help to relax you.

Eat fish; especially tuna. The fish is a rich source of omega 3 fatty acids that are good for your body. The fish makes a delicious meal while adding the essential nutrients to your system.

Take to drinking tea. Herbal teas like peppermint and chamomile are known to reduce stress while being good digestives. Tea releases fewer stress hormones and hence drinking 2 to 3 cups a day is highly recommended.

Get a bunch of exotic fruits and binge on them. First of all the bright colors will create a warm environment while the bursting flavors will add tangy flavors to your taste buds. The change of taste from your regular fruits will be a welcome to your body as they will add anti oxidants and essential vitamins to your system. They normally help to keep cancer, heart diseases and osteoporosis at bay.
