A healthy scalp is the secret to beautiful and healthy hair. But with the manifestation of head lice on the scalp, the scalp tends to become itchy and the hair starts to fall.
Head lice are parasitic insects that are mostly found at the back of the ears and close to the neckline at the back of the neck. Red sores are formed on the scalp due to the scratching of the head. Swollen lymph nodes are also found to form at the back and front of the neck.
These lice stay on the scalp and hair of the host and feed on human blood. Head lice are extremely contagious and can cause embarrassing situations in social life. So, it is wise to get rid of the parasitic insects from the head as soon as possible:
Onion: Take an onion and extract the juice from it. Now keep the juice in a small bowl and apply it on to the scalp of the head slowly with the help of fingers. Massage the roots of the hair with the juice and keep the juice in the head for a period of about four hours.
The pungent sulphur that is present in the juice will aid in the killing of the parasites in the head. Then wash to head thoroughly. This method needs to be applied at least for three to four continuous days as the nits will not be killed in the first treatment.
Vinegar and water: A mixture of vinegar and water is also thought as an effective way to get rid of head lice. Mix two teaspoons of vinegar with six teaspoons of clear water. Take a cotton wad, immerse it into the mixture and apply it on the head and more at the roots of the hair.
This method should be conducted at night just before going to sleep. Then the head has to be kept covered with the help of a cotton cloth for the whole night while sleeping. This method needs to be conducted at least twice in a week in order to completely remove the lice from the head.
