Hair and Skin Care Tips for Winter

In most cities around the world winter is a time for celebration. During this season the air is cold and dry. This can wreck havoc on your skin and hair. This is a challenge for your hair and skin and in order to keep them healthy you need to pay attention to their needs.

Moisturize

It is vital that you moisturize your skin regularly in order to avoid patchy dry skin. Apply a generous layer of lotion or cream on your face, hands and legs, elbows and knees. Do not forget to apply lip balm too as the delicate skin on your lips gets dry and begins to crack with the cold air. Avoid licking your lips or biting the dry skin.

Exfoliate

It is important to exfoliate your skin all through the year; however using an exfoliating cream during winter is not advisable. Exfoliate the skin on your lips in the shower. After you have completed your bath your lips will be soft; this is the best time to exfoliate the region without causing any harm. Use a wash cloth or a towel and gently rub the area to get rid of the dead skin.

Milk must be used to exfoliate the skin on your face and the rest of your body. Add a few spoons of milk powder to your bath water and soak in it for a few minutes. The fine granules of the milk will get rid of the dead skin as moisturize your skin at the same time.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is the use of water to enhance your skin and hair. You can use this treatment in the comfort of your home. Shower with warm water and after a few minutes turns on the cold water for a period of 15 seconds and then switch to hot water again. Repeat this a few times before you get out of the shower. The hot water opens your pores while the cold water increases the circulation of blood thereby improving your complexion and making your skin look healthy.

Hair Care

The dry winter air damages your hair as well. Regular oil massages and used of conditioner will keep your hair health and prevent damage to your hair. During winter you must avoid using hot irons, curling irons and other such heat related gadgets on your hair as they damage the hair from the roots. Wash your hair daily and use a conditioner as well as a leave in conditioner or serum to keep your hair healthy and attractive.
