Hair growth – role of vitamins

Vitamins play a vital role for the growth of hairs on the head. According to some experts, vitamins, diet and herbs are essential in combating and coping up with the hair fall. Vitamins help in the revitalization of the mutilated hair follicle to normalcy and this in turn leads to a healthy growth of hair. Vitamins essential for the healthy growth of hair can be obtained from a balanced diet comprising of fish, nuts, fresh fruits, meat, iron and fresh vegetables. Regular exercise helps in the blood circulation and thereby improves the hair follicles and the scalp too.

Vitamin A: This is a very helpful vitamin for the overall development of the human body. Vitamin A is vital in the prevention of hair loss. This vitamin is known to fight skin diseases and shows its usefulness when the scalp conditions are causing the hair loss problems for an individual. Vitamin A is beneficial for the fair follicles and keeps the root of the hair lubricated.

Vitamin B: Vitamin B and particularly Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12 are beneficial for the growth of the hair. This vitamin contains MSM, which increases the hair growth phase allowing the hair to grow longer.

Vitamin B3 (Niacin) promotes circulation of the blood in the scalp while vitamin B5 helps stopping the hair loss and promotes the regrowth of the hair. Vitamin B6 and B12 help in the healthy growth of the hair. Vitamin B is usually found in the whole grains, fresh fruits, milk, fish, egg, turkey, meat and so on.

Vitamin C: Vitamin C is helpful in checking the fall of the hair and in maintaining the healthy growth of the hair. This vitamin is not only helpful for skin problems but is also helpful in promoting the growth of hair and fighting scalp diseases that are responsible for the hair fall.

Vitamin E: This vitamin acts as an anti-oxidant and helps in blood circulation in the scalp due to the intake of increased oxygen in the blood. Lack of this vitamin can lead to several hair problems like hair fall, thinning of the hair, shedding, brittleness and premature graying of the hair, dandruff problems and so on. Vegetable oil, wheat-germ oil, soybeans, broccoli, grains, spinach, raw seeds, dried beans, nuts are natural sources of this vitamin.
