
How to identify dry skin?
Skin that produces less oil and is sensitive is dry. The skin tends to look dehydrated and is not able to absorb moisture easily. Skin on the cheeks and lips tend to get chapped.
What causes skin to dry?
Extreme exposure to cold climate tends to snatch the moisture from the skin making it dry. If you are exposed to air conditioning you skin will dry up. Poor diet, deficiency in Vitamin A & B tends to work as a contributing factor. An inactive thyroid or diabetes can also lead to dry skin.
How to care for dry skin?
Dry skin needs to be kept hydrated. Drink 10 glasses of fluids daily. Eliminate fizzy drinks, coffee, tea and caffeine from your diet completely.
Moisturize your skin regularly. Use a moisturizer especially formulated for dry skin. Use immediately after a shower as your pores will absorb most of the moisture.
Never bathe in hot water as the heat will steal the moisture from your skin. Bathe in luke warm water. Even while washing your hands use warm water and moisturizer immediately after.
Indulgence is the key and if your skin is dry then it is a must that you bathe in milk once a week. Warm your bath water and add a few spoons of powdered milk to it. Then add a few drops of almond oil or rose oil to it and indulge. You may choose to add your favorite perfume to your bath.
Essential herbs for Dry skin
Aloe Vera extracts are a good source of moisture. Juice of the platy is a good health booster as well.
Drink chamomile and peppermint tea. It soothes your nerves, calms you down and helps hydrate your skin.
Diet for dry skin included eating almonds in their natural form or adding them to milkshakes or foods. Avoid alcohol in your diet completely. Deep fried foods and fast foods should be avoided. Stay clear of potato fries and chips. Add lots of yellow and orange fruits and vegetables. Your diet includes protein from vegetable. Increase your intake of raw vegetables and fruits.
