‘An apple a day keeps the doctor at bay’, we all grew up learning this phrase but rarely was the actually meaning behind this phrase ever explained to us. Its simple, an apple has so many hidden properties to it that it helps to ward of many illnesses and ailments.

While the fruit is known to be healthy, the juice is even healthier. Apples have several minerals and nutrients in them. These nutrients help to get rid of common ailments like common cold, headaches, fevers and cough.

The juice of the apple acts as an anti oxidant. This helps to boost your immune system when you are ill. It also is known to be helpful in preventing heart diseases and certain types of cancers. Women are recommended apple juice as the first food post labor. It helps to reduce bleeding and increases growth of blood and skin cells.

Apples are compared to Almonds when you are talking about improving brain activity. What happens here is that the nutrients in the apple help to increase cognitive powers of the brain and therefore help to increase brain activity.

If you are on a diet to loose weight then apple juice can definitely help you. Drinking a glass of the juice in the morning will boost your immune system by 20 %. This leads to your body burning more fats in your body.

There is a risk in drinking apple juice though. If you are buying packs or cans at the store; then there are higher chances of you drinking sugar water with apple concentrate in it. This is not helpful. The key is to checking the carton before buying. If the carton states that it is 100% juice then it is safe; however anything else can be harmful as the added sugars will load you up with pounds.

How to choose the right apples?

You must buy apples in bulk. Always buy a kilo or two as they make a great snack. Apples have a shelf life of 3 months if they are refrigerated. When buying apples, you must llok for cloudy looking fruits as these have higher amount of anti oxidants.
