Health benefits of lavender as essential oil

The word “lavender” comes from the Latin word “lavare”, which means “to wash”. Lavender oil is an essential oil that is acquired by refinement from the flower spikes of certain varieties of lavender. There are huge benefits of lavender oil.

Health benefits: Lavender oil has the ability to eliminate nervous tension, diminish pain, sterilize scalp and skin, develop blood circulation and take care of respiratory problems. Lavender oil is famous for its sweet aroma and if spread in the room, fills the room with a beautiful fragrance.

Skin benefits: Lavender essential oil is very effective on skin burns, which are either from hot water or from hot objects. Besides this, lavender is helpful in curing abscesses, acne, allergies, cold sores, cuts, boils, bruises, dermatitis. Eczema, insect bites, stings, ringworm, scabies, scars, sunburns, etc.

Digestive treatment: It is also used in getting relief from digestion stomach pain, nausea, gas and soothing of the intestines.

The flowers of lavender are used for making potpourris and the oil was essentially used in making perfumes since long times. Besides being used as aromatherapy oil, now-a-days lavender essential oil is used in many other ways like gels, infusion, lotion and soaps.
