We are all aware of the fact that in order to stay fit and healthy we must walk for 30 minutes daily. But what are the benefits that our bodies gain when we walk or run? Well, to begin with it is one of the simplest form of exercise; something that we do unintentionally. In order to benefit from it we need to walk briskly. This helps to strengthen the bones and tone the muscles. In addition to this, research has also proved that walking helps to lose weight and control diabetes. Thus walking helps to increase your life span.

Walking is better than jogging or running as it puts lesser stress on your joints and muscles. If you suffer from any form of addiction like nicotine, alcohol or depression, you will get positive benefits if you walk for 30 to 40 minutes daily. It improves your stamina and ability to resist any form of addiction. If you are under medication then you must discuss with your doctor and exercise only with his medical consent. Walking is also known to be able to elevate moods and reduce depression.

In order to tone the muscles in your lower body you must walk up the stairs instead of using the escalator or elevator. Your hips, torso and thighs will be well toned if you walk daily. If you suffer from insomnia or are unable to sleep due to stress then you will be able to benefit from walking. When you walk the muscles in your body are stressed out and they help to induce sleep.

If you are suffering from any heart related disease or do not have regular bowel movements then you must drink a glass of warm water and then walk for about 20 minutes. This will help to regulate bowel movements and also helps to prevent heart strokes.

Walking helps a person to age gracefully. If you suffer from cholesterol or you have a history of high blood pressure in your family then the only form of prevention is for you to walk for a few minutes every day.
