Helpful Herbs That Give Your Memory a Boost

June 26, 2009

Herbs are plants and shrubs that are grown to serve medical purposes. From ailments like common cold and fatigue to stimulating one’s sexual needs, herbs have been known to have curative powers in these areas. In order to boost your memory; there are a few herbs that can help you to achieve that.

A well known herb that helps to stimulate activity in the brain is blessed thistle. The herb improves circulation and is effective in the release of toxins in the blood. It also purifies the blood; thereby acting to nourish the brain.

Rosemary is another herb that has health benefits in terms of increasing stimulation in the brain. You can blend it with a cup of tea or have it in a supplement form. It increases the flow of blood and stimulates memory activity almost immediately.

In order to boost the overall health of your body and to increase the amount of activity in your brain and boost your memory, it is important to take a dose of ginseng daily. Blending it in with your tea is the best way to increase your brain activity almost immediately.

A research has stated that those who use sage in their food preparations are known to be less likely to loose memory and suffer short term or long term memory loss.

Gingko biloba is known to increase blood circulation in the brain. Herbalists recommend taking it in the capsule form or in an alcohol free liquid form for quick results. The extract must be taken twice a day and it will show results in about a day or two. It is beginning to gain recognition as a brain tonic

Fresh ginger is known to boost your cognitive functioning and improve brain activity. It is a natural anti inflammatory herb that helps to block the formation of inflammatory compounds that lead to severe diseases.

Other herbs that are known to be effective in the stimulation of brain activity and in increasing your memory include turmeric, cinnamon, and cardamom. Turmeric can be boiled with milk or added to food preparations while cinnamon and cardamom must be consumed in smaller portions and can be added to coffee and teas.
