Ginger can even be used in the form of a hot compress over abdomen or lower back as it helps in improving blood circulation and relaxing the muscles. Add six oz of crushed ginger to one quart water for about ten minutes. Soak a small towel in this infusion, let it cool a bit, wring it and place it on the affected body parts.

Magnesium

Magnesium helps in greatly reducing the intensity of menstrual cramps. You can consume magnesium in the form of herbal supplements. Foods rich in magnesium are whole grains, nuts, and green vegetables. Please note that overdose or prolonged usage of magnesium has side effects. Moderation is advised.
