An individual suffering from this problem should reduce consumption of sugary or starchy food items. Further, it is important to avoid smoking and consumption of tobacco or alcohol to get rid of toothache. Simple and different herbal remedies can be used in the treatment of toothache.

6 Herbal Remedies for Toothache

Clove

Clove is one of the most effective herbal remedies for toothache. You can apply clove oil on the infected tooth with the help of a cotton swab several times in a day to reduce toothache. A mouthwash can be created by mixing clove oil (1/4th teaspoon) in water (1 cup) and used for rinsing the mouth on a frequent basis to control the bacterial growth that may result in toothache. Clove can also be directly placed on the infected tooth to obtain the desired results.

Ginger

Ginger can be used as an herbal remedy to treat toothache. You can create a thick paste by mixing dried ginger powder with water and apply it on the affected tooth 2 to 3 times in a day to relieve toothache.

This paste should be removed with cold water after 5 minutes. A slice of fresh ginger can also be directly placed on the affected tooth to obtain effective results. This herb should not be used if you are suffering from gallstones.

Prickly Ash Bark or Leaves

The problem of toothache can be cured with the use of prickly ash. Chewing prickly ash bark on a daily basis can provide relief from various symptoms associated with toothache.

You can prepare a solution by mixing the juice extracted from prickly ash leaves with water and rinse your mouth with this solution 3 to 4 times in a day to deal with the problem of toothache.

Turmeric

Turmeric is another effective herb for treating toothache. You can create a paste by mixing turmeric powder with water and rub this paste on the infected tooth to obtain relief from toothache.

A mixture can also be created by boiling turmeric powder (2 to 3 teaspoons), lemon grass leaves (6 to 8) and salt (1 teaspoon) in water (half litre) for 5 minutes. You can also soak turmeric in eucalyptus oil for 45 to 60 minutes and use it on a regular basis to obtain the desired results.

Betel Leaf

Betel leaf is another effective herbal remedy for toothache. You can boil fresh betel leaves (5 to 6) in water (2 cups) for 8 to 10 minutes and rinse mouth with this mixture multiple times in a day to deal with the problem of toothache. This herb can also help in curing the problem of gum bleeding and other tooth infections.

Kangkung

Kangkung can also be used as an herbal remedy to treat toothache. You can prepare a mixture by boiling kangkung root, vinegar and salt in water and use this mixture (strained) for rinsing the mouth on a regular basis to reduce toothache.
