Skin tags are tiny colored moles that are like small flaps on the skin. These moles appear on the skin under the breast, on the neck, under the arms, on the eyelids or on the groin region. Normally these are formed when the clothing brushes against the skin and the skin tears; this leads to acute bleeding. Though there is no physical evidence that these skin tags are dangerous; it looks unappealing and thus one feels the urge to get rid of it. There are several easy procedures to get rid of these skin tags at home.
One simple procedure is to numb the area and cut off the excess skin. Start with using rubbing alcohol on the affected area. Then rub ice on the skin in order to numb the area. Once this is done cut off the skin. As soon as you cut the excess skin place a cotton ball on the area and apply pressure on the skin. If you are using this method to get rid of the skin tag you must ensure that you take care of the open wound and prevent any bacterial infection and fungal growth on the area. Clean the area every day with a mild anti septic lotion.
Nail polish is also an effective remedy to get rid of a skin tag. All you need to do is apply a thin coat of clear nail polish on the skin 2 to 3 times a day. The nail polish will shrink the skin tag however you need to have patience with this method as it may take a few days for the skin tag to shrink.
There are several herbal remedies that are also extremely effective in the removal of skin tags. Tea tree oil is one of the most effective treatments. Wash the affected area with soap and water and then you can use a small amount of the oil. You could also use apple cider vinegar. Using garlic pulp on your skin overnight is another skin remedy that is extremely effective.
