A repulsive smell that comes from a person’s body due to bacterial growth is known as body odor. It is caused by sweat and poor hygiene. When you perspire the body releases certain bacteria and it is these bacteria that cause the smell as they release certain vapors. These bacteria have the ability of multiplying rapidly and hence you find that people who perspire have a tendency to suffer from body odor.

Using deodorants and anti perspirants only cause more harm as they have chemical bases that may react negatively with the skin and bacteria. There are a few simple tips that you can try to rid yourself of this odor.

Maintain good body hygiene. Have a bath regularly and wash all the parts of your body well. After your bath; make sure you wipe yourself dry. Water that does not get wiped away causes the bacteria to grow and spread. Use an anti bacterial soap that helps to get rid of the germs that stick to your body. Avoid using soaps that have a fragrance in them.

Add a few aromatic oils to your bath water. You can choose from lavender, rose or lily but the one that works the best is tea tree oil as it has curative powers as well. You must also mix approximately 20 ml of the aromatic oils to equal parts of water and apply them to the area under your arms.

Vinegar can be used as a natural deodorant. Pour vinegar on your armpits and let it dry. It will help to eliminate the body odor. Make sure you do not wear your shirt immediately after applying the vinegar as it will get stained.

Applying baby talcum powder all over your body especially on your armpits, neck and back will help reduce the perspiration as the powder will soak it in.
