The clinical term to describe the colon inflammation is called colitis. The problem of colitis occurs due to a long term inflammation and irritation of the membrane lining the walls of the colon. Initially lower part of the colon gets inflamed and then slowly it spreads to the upper part of the colon. A frequent urge for the bowel movement is the basic symptom of this disorder.

Sometimes blood is found in the stools of the patient and a consistent pain is experience in the abdomen. Due to constant loss in blood and fluid from the body the symptoms like mild fever, anemia, insomnia, bloating, fatigue, lack of appetite etc are also experienced. For most of the patients stress is the key factor for the problem of colitis. The problem of stress leads to the problem of constipation which in turn leads to the problem of colitis. A weak digestive system can also be a factor leading to the problem of colitis.

Beverages like strong tea and coffee should be strictly avoided because they lead to the problem of constipation. Food which is highly salted, alcoholic drinks, product made of white flour should not be taken in case of colitis. You should consume stream vegetable on a greater amount. These will help ease bowel movement and avoid constipation. Cabbage is an excellent remedy for abdominal problems. Taking cabbage juice on a regular basis for few days gives a quick relief from the symptoms of colitis and cures the colitis very easily. A regular consumption of apples is also very effective in treatment of colitis. Buttermilk is also very helpful in treatment of colitis. Consuming buttermilk on a regular basis keeps the colitis away.

You should not consume food which is high in fiber. Foods like rice which are considerably low in fiber are good for the treatment of colitis. Banana is a very common home remedy for constipation. Taking banana on a regular basis avoid constipation and hence avoids colitis. You can take banana mixed with rice. It will give a great relief from the symptoms of colitis. Well hydrated body is less prone to constipation and therefore drink water based fruit in plenty. Drink as much water as you can while getting up in the morning. If symptoms are persistent, you should consult a doctor.
