Most babies do well with diapers while other parents complain of diaper rashes. The cause is not the diapers but poor hygiene. All babies have the same tolerance levels. Using wet diapers or soiled diapers will obviously lead to the child getting rashes or crying uncontrollably. The rash is caused by the urine or stools that touches the skin and rubs against it when the child walks or moves.

If you are keeping your child in diapers the entire day; then you must take care to keep the child clean to avoid rashes. Change the diaper every 3 hours (most parents do not change the diaper till its bath time or the baby has had a bowel movement). After you take off the soiled diaper wash the bay with warm water and soap. Wipe the baby well to ensure that there is no water in the creases of the skin. After wiping the baby well; use powder on the baby’s bottom. The powder helps to keep the area dry as it absorbs moisture. After this you may put on a fresh diaper. Remember to use a size that fits your baby well. Using one that is too big or too small will cause friction during movements.

-Keep a close watch on any medication that you may be giving the baby as they can lead to rashes as well. Inform your doctor immediately if that is the case.

-Applying Aloe Vera to the affected area will help to soothe the skin rash and prevent spread of the rash.

-Preventive measures involve wiping the baby well after a bath or wash. Use clean clothes for the child and avoid using perfumed products for the baby. The perfumes may cause the rashes.

-Massage coconut oil onto the baby’s skin to take care of the affected area. The coconut oil helps to dry the skin in the affected area.

-If you baby sweats a lot then you must ensure that you keep the baby’s skin dry by using powder or wiping the baby well.
