Head lice or head-louse infestation is a human therapeutic state caused by immigration of the hair and skin by the parasitic insect, Pediculus Humanus capitis or head louse. The head lice are not dangerous, and they do not spread diseases but are contagious and down-right annoying. They are wingless insects that spend their entire life on the human scalp and feed exclusively on human blood.
Lemon juice: One has to mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and two tablespoons of garlic paste and apply the mixture over the scalp. This mixture has to be kept on the head for about 30 minutes and dried. Then the head must be washed off and rinsed in cold water. Lemon juice is very effective in treating head lice and dandruff.
Vinegar: One has to mix three to four tablespoons of vinegar, two tablespoons of lemon juice and garlic paste. This has to be mixed well and applied to the scalp. This needs to be allowed to dry for two hours and then washed off. This needs to be done at least thrice a month. Vinegar is extremely useful in eliminating head lice.
Olive oil: This is a useful remedy for killing head lice. One has to apply olive oil on the scalp and hair and cover it with a plastic bag. This has to be kept overnight and later on with the help of lice comb, take out the head lice. This needs to be repeated after 10 days and is very easy and effective in curing lice.
Almond: One needs to soak 12 almonds in water and grind it to paste. 3-4 tablespoon of lemon juice has to be added to it. This mixture has to be applied to the scalp and allowed to dry for 1-2 hours. Then the hair has to be washed in cold water. This is a useful remedy for head lice.
Custard apple: One has to take a raw custard apple and grind it to powder along with the seeds with the help of a mixer grinder. Then the powder needs to be stored in an air-tight container. This powder has to be applied to the scalp just before going to bed and the head has to be tied with a cotton bandage. This will surely eliminate the lice and the nits from the head.
Seeds of shareefa, camphor extracts and onion are also some of the remedies of head lice.
