Home remedies for sinus infection

Sinus infection or sinusitis is an inflammation of sinuses and nasal passages. Sinusitis is one of the most common conditions that can bother people throughout their lives.Home remedies of sinus infection:

Inhale steam vapors: The most useful and effective home remedy for people suffering from sinus infection is by inhaling the vapor periodically. The procedure is to bend our head over a hot water bowl so that the steam can reach our face directly. Then we have to start breathing in the steam vapors. Repeat this for as many times it is convenient for us to do. This procedure usually helps us to lighten the usually thick mucus so that drainage is improved.

Garlic juice: It is a well-known fact that garlic has anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. As sinus infection is either bacterial or fungal in nature, the properties of garlic are an effective cure for sinus infection. Intake of garlic juice thereby helps in combating sinusitis.

Inhaling garlic steam: Another remedy for the infection is by putting freshly chopped garlic in a bowl of boiling water and inhaling that steam for at least 2-3 times a day. This is a very effective home remedy for sinus treatment.

Apple Cider Vinegar: One has to gulp the mixture of 1-2 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water, 3 times a day for around six days. One gets improvement within an hour or latest within a day. If no improvement takes place for 2 days, then the remedy needs to be stopped.

Inhaling Apple Cider Vinegar: Sinus passages can be immediately opened by simply opening up the Apple Cider Vinegar bottle and inhaling the vapor coming out from it. Since the vapor is acidic, one must not overdo it as it might cause damage to the mucus membrane.

Hot compress: For effective drainage of mucus, applying the hot compresses or poultices is an effective home remedy used since older times. One can use different aromatic oils but the use of ginger or black mustard is a very strong and effective method to stimulate circulation and assist in decongesting closed nasal passages.

Food allergy: It is one of the major causes of sinus infection. By avoiding some foods, one can sometimes totally cure themselves from this disease. Avoiding dairy products, wheat, chicken, eggs, ducks, chocolates, peanuts, bananas and corn are some foods that need to be avoided by the people suffering from the infection. Best is to avoid those foods that causes an allergic reaction. This is a simple yet effective way of tackling sinusitis.
