We live a lifestyle that steals sleep from us. We work extended hours leaving little time for personal time. This leads to cutting down on the hours we sleep. Keeping in mind that one of the organs that works overtime by doing so is our eyes; we must take a few precautions. From staring at the computer for hours to exposing it to the harmful rays of the sun; we tend to pay very little attention to the harm we are causing our eyes. Other causes that lead to tired eyes include excessive crying, lack of moisture in the body, fatigue, stress and conjunctivitis.

Tired eyes lead to red eyes, puffy and swollen eyes and dark circles under the eyes. The heaviness can lead to burning and irritation and in extreme cases watery discharge.

Home remedies

One of the simplest things you can do to take care of your tired eyes is to place 2 teaspoons in your freezer and take them out after a few minutes. Place the cool metal on your eyes for a few minutes to feel relieved. Do this several times for a pleasant feeling. Take care not to freeze the spoons for too long. You can also tie ice cubes in a wash cloth and place them on your eyes. The ice willmelt and you will be left with fresh looking peepers.

-Another simple method involves using used tea bags on your eyes. The tea will help to soothe your eyes and take care of the darkening under the eyes.

-Washing your eyes regularly with rose oils mixed in cold water helps to reduce the puffiness.

-Place cucumber slices on your eyes for a few minutes to get rid of any burning sensation that you may be feeling.

-Place cotton balls dipped in cold milk to reduce the puffiness. The lactic acid from the milj reacts with your skin to produce a refreshed look.
