Wonder how the cartoons always got rid of a black eye within a few minutes, well, it is possible. A black eye is caused by excess pressure or a blow to the eye. It is caused by internal bleeding.
If the skin is not torn then you can get away with curing the eye with natural remedies; however if there is a laceration in the skin then you must see a doctor. You will probably get a few stitches to stop the bleeding and help to heal the eye faster.
Immediately after the blow you must apply a cold compress to your eye. Either and ice pack or ice cubes wrapped in a towel will help to heal the eye, reduce swelling and decrease the black formation around the eye. The cold compress will help to stop the internal bleeding. Never rub the ice directly on the skin as ice generates heat.
After about a day or two use a warm compress on the eye. Heat applied helps to reduce the soreness and begins the circulation of blood. This helps tom get rid of the black patch around the eye faster.
You must sleep with your head slightly elevated so that there is flow of blood from your head to the lower part of your body. This reduces swelling in the area around the eyes and the eyelids.
Never use make up or any cosmetics to hide the black eye. The chemicals in the products may react with the skin and cause allergic reactions. You may choose to take a few oral pain killers but you must consult your doctor before doing so.
Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun. Since the skin is delicate at this point it is easier to burn. The glasses also divert attention from you face and helps to avoid a series of questions.
