A sty is a small painful boil that appears near the hair follicles on your eyes. It is normally the sebaceous glands that cause the formation of the sty. It will be accompanied by inflammation, swelling and redness of the eye.
Unfortunately some children are more prone to sties than others yet the cause is unknown. Rubbing or touching causes the infection to spread.
Home remedies to get rid of the sty
Warm and apple by either boiling it or baking it. Grate it and wrap the grated pieces in as muslin cloth and apply it to the affected eye when it is warm enough but not that hot that it will burn your skin. The warm juice of the apple is known to cure the infection and prevent the spread of it.
If the eye is itching due to the sty avoid rubbing it as you will spread the infection by doing so. All you need to do is take a leaf of the Aloe plant and slit it so that you are able to get the gel from the inner part of the leaf. Close your eye and let the leaf lay on your eye for a few minutes. The gel is cooling and will soothe the itching instantly. It also helps to heal the sty.
Use a hot water compress by boiling a cup of water with guava leaves in it. Add the boiled leaves to a muslin cloth and place it on the eye to relieve the pain that you are suffering from. This method also relieves any signs of redness instantly.
Brew a tea with coriander seeds and honey. Use this concoction to wash your eyes about 4 to 5 times a day. The coriander seeds will cure the sty in a few days. The swelling will go down immediately.
Boil a spoon of turmeric in water and strain it several times to get a thick powdery mixture after straining it. Now you may apply this to the affected eye or use it as eye drops.
