
Ring worm is a skin infection. It originates in the vegetable plants and spreads to humans. It causes itching and affects the scalp causing the hair to get weak and break off. This causes a bald spot. The affected area skin looks pinkish red and there are circular or oval patches of inflamed skin visible.
It is common in boys more than girls as their hair is shorter and they have lesser protection on their scalp. If the infection is not treated it may become chronic, in this stage it is very difficult to be treated. It spreads through the finger nails to different parts of the body. Common areas that get infected are the skin on the face, neck and chest area.
If you suspect that you or your child is suffering from ring worm, then place the child on an all fruit diet. Avoid drinking tea and coffee. After a few days, add steamed vegetables and yogurt to the diet. A glass of milk with a spoon of honey twice a day will comprise of a wholesome diet that will help to cure the infection.
One of the most effective home remedies to cure the infection is to apply a paste of mustard seeds on the affected area. Wash the skin with hot water prior to the application and wash off the paste with cold water.
Massaging the affected area with mustard oil will cause the infection to stop spreading and will improve the texture of the skin of the affected areas. The mustard oil also ensures that the patches on the skin will get back its original color.
Combine a cup of spinach juice with a cup and a half of carrot juice. You may add salt or sugar to add taste value to the combination juice. Drnking this juice has proved to be an effective remedy for ringworm.
In addition to the above when you are suffering from this skin condition you must wear light cotton clothes in order to let your skin breathe. Get as much fresh air as you can. Avoid common or public swimming pools and avoid sharing hygiene products like towels, combs and cosmetics.
