Stress can kill you. I am aware that that is an extremely harsh statement but it is definitely true. Stress raises your blood pressure, causes damage to your kidney and liver and is the main reason for heart related disorders. A few changes in your diet, lifestyle and altering a few habits can help to ward of stress.

The first and most important thing that you need to do to take care of the stress is to sleep well. The longer you are awake, the more you tend to think of the problems that are stressing you out. This leads to increasing your stress levels. You must keep yourself busy to keep your mind of things that stress you out. If nothing else works then sleeping will definitely help you. A good night’s sleep will keep you fit the next day and will possibly reduce your stress levels by half.

Eat foods that have anti oxidants. Fruits like berries, melons and oranges are a rich source of anti oxidants. Amongst the vegetables broccoli and carrots fall in this category. Anti oxidants are known to reduce stress levels.

Avoid eating extremely spicy food. Sweet or bland food keep you fit and avoid the possibility of your pressure rising. Add herbs like ginseng and holy basil in your food preparation.

Avoid caffeine. You will need to stop drinking tea, coffee, alcohol and colas. These drinks have caffeine in them and cause your stress levels to increase. They are also a cause of lack of sleep and if you are suffering from stress then sleep is extremely important for you to improve your health.

Adopt an exercise routine. Start your day with light jogging for a few minutes. At the end of the day include some cardio workouts. Go swimming once a week to help you to relax. Water has the power to calm your senses thereby reducing your stress levels.
