May 13, 2009

Improper diet and poor eating timings contribute to constipation. Lack of vitamins, dehydration, lack of chewing food and irregular eating habits contribute to constipation. Depending on the age the remedies that one takes will help. If an infant is suffering from constipation, then it is the eating habits of the mother that contribute to this. If the child is older and being fed artificially; then it is the food is affecting the child.

The best thing you can do to ensure that you have proper bowel movements every day is to have a glass of warm water first thing in the morning. Add a few drops of lemon juice and honey to the water. After drinking the water you will need to walk around for a few minutes till you get your bowel movements to work.

Eating the right diet helps. Eat fresh and raw vegetables like tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber and salad leaves. Add it to a sandwich or just eat the portion as a salad daily to ensure that you are not constipated. Include plenty of green leafy vegetables in your diet. This is especially true for pregnant women and young school going children.

Drink a glass of warm milk before you go to bed at night. Add a dollop oh honey to the milk to sweeten it. The honey helps to digest your dinner as well.

Bananas acts as natural laxatives. They help to have your bowel movements in place and ensure that the waste is eliminated from your body daily. Do not drink water immediately after eating the fruit as it will lead to a stomach ache.

Brew tea with ginger and lemon grass. Add a spoon of honey and strain the tea. Let it cool down before you can drink it in one gulp. This helps to treat any stomach pain and helps with your bowel movements as well.
